At the event held on the occasion of the national holiday, Mihály Varga emphasized that for us Hungarians, 20th August means making decisions determining the future of the country, waging battles to accomplish our targets and working constructively to preserve our nation. On behalf of Head of State János Áder, the Minister for National Economy awarded the experts with outstanding performance in the fields of state administration, science and economy.

Mihály Varga said, King St. Stephan wanted to create a homeland that Hungarians consider their own, one which safeguards them. The Minister also added that only a nation with strong soul can build up a strong country. As he said, if we want to preserve our homeland, we too – like in the age of St Stephan – have to make decisions, wage battles and complete the constructive labour. Mihály Varga stated that sobriety in history warns us to preserve everything we have achieved, let us do it now, too, as there are dangers threatening us today, as well.

The Minister for National Economy said that the people awarded that day had contributed to the development of Hungary not only through their work but also through their personal example. He concluded by stating that activities which we can build our future on and which contribute to the future success of our nation were awarded that day.
